Q: Who can join?
A: Anyone who likes to ride bicycles and is looking for the support and camaraderie of a team is welcome. Membership is open to cyclists at all levels of fitness or skill.
Q: What are the membership perks?
A: Membership benefits include: regular team rides; team support at races, including a team tent, drinks and snacks; team events including weekends away and social events; a pair of Boneyard socks; beer (and other beverages) provided at many of our events; and discounts from our generous sponsors.
Q: What are the membership requirements?
A: Boneyard Cycling team values members who participate in rides and races, social events and volunteering. Members are expected to wear team kit whenever possible, and are encouraged to support our sponsors (which gives you the benefit of some excellent discounts). Members are required to abide by our Code of Conduct at all times while participating in team events, or while wearing team kit or clothing.
Q: How do I get a jersey?
A: Kit orders are open twice a year, in January and June. Individuals order and pay for their own kit via the online store. Jersey design changes every two years, and all members are expected to purchase at least one jersey of the current design. Details of the kit order, including closing dates, will be communicated to all active members.
Q: Can I buy Boneyard Cycling team clothing and swag?
A: Yes! Hoodies, t-shirts, caps and other items are generally available at events all year.
Q: Is there a regular schedule for team rides?
A: Team rides are seasonal, and include regular weeknight evening MTB rides (including winter night rides), weeknight evening gravel rides (not including winter!), cyclocross practice sessions leading up to CX season, and longer MTB and gravel rides on the weekends. In addition to the regular weekly rides, all members are welcome to use the WhatsApp channels to post rides and find riding buddies.
Q: What does membership cost?
A: Annual dues are $99 for new members, and $75 for renewing members. Membership is valid for a calendar year, and members must renew by 31 January each year to retain their membership.
Q: How do I pay?
A: Membership payment is accepted via Venmo, @boneyardcycling. Payment by cash or check can also be accepted by prior arrangement. Payment must be received before your membership is considered active.
Q: How does the team communicate?
A: We use email to keep members up-to-date on events and other important information. We use WhatsApp channels for ride organizing. Access to these will be available to all current members. The team posts regularly to our social media channels, so be sure to follow those and share the stoke.
Q: I’m not yet sure I want to join – how can I find out more?
A: To see what the team has been up to, check out our social media channels. And come and join us for a ride! We welcome prospective members on our group rides. Drop us a line at info@boneyardcycling.com and we can let you know what the options are for upcoming rides and events. Or if you see us out on the trails, or at cycling events, come over and say hi!
Q: What is the Boneyard Cycling Code of Conduct?
A: Boneyard Cycling is diverse; some are out to win, some are out to test themselves, some just want to have fun. We embrace all of this. Despite the coolness associated with team membership, maintaining humility is expected. The team is committed to providing an environment free from harassment and discrimination. Harassment or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status will not be tolerated. Members are encouraged to participate in team social events and rides. Members are encouraged to race and or support teammates at local races. Team members entering races or other events in Oregon will register with the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) with their team name as “Boneyard Cycling”. Members will wear the current team kit (minimum requirement is the current jersey) when racing and are encouraged to wear team kit whenever possible in training and in recreation rides. As a member of the Boneyard Cycling Team members agree to volunteer at least 8 hours per year at cycling events or related activities held in or around Central Oregon. Volunteer activities could include, but are not limited to, helping out at bike races or participating in a trail work event. Sponsor benefits are intended for the team members; sponsorship gifts and support shall not be used for resale or personal monetary gain. The team shall present good sportsmanship and a respectful attitude at cycling and non-cycling events when representing Boneyard Cycling or team sponsors. Team members agree to represent the team and sport of cycling in a positive manner by obeying all racing rules and traffic laws. Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in membership revocation through a vote of the team Officers.
